Leigh Central Primary School is a Local Authority Community school. We admit 30 children into our Reception class each September.
Admissions are co-ordinated by the Wigan School Places Team. We encourage families to register an interest with school however it is important to note that this does not guarantee a place at school. Applications for a Reception place must be made through the Local Authority. Applications can be made online at www.wigan.gov.uk or by completing a Wigan Council primary school application form.
The team can be contacted as follows:

The Schools admissions section of the website gives a wealth of information for parents and clearly explains the admissions and appeals procedures. It outlines a clear timeline for the process and explains how places are allocated in each school.
The admissions process will be open from early November for children who are due to start their Reception Year the following September. If you have already 'registered an interest' in school then you will be sent an information pack through the post. Please note that registering an interest does not mean that you will be allocated a school place. A Local Authority application form will need to be completed online or via a paper application form if you do not have internet access. This should be completed and submitted prior to the deadline in January.
At Leigh Central we encourage families to come and visit our school prior to applying for a place and hold an Open Day each November/December. This gives a great opportunity to see how our school works and meet the staff. Parents who cannot make the open day are welcome to contact school at any time to arrange a convenient visit.
We understand that starting school for the first time can be both a daunting and exciting experience for both the children and their families. In order to prepare families for this important step in their child’s development we offer a range of opportunities which help families to become familiar with our school prior to September –
