All About Us

Leigh Central Community Pre-school was established over 20 years ago providing a high quality early years’ experience. We offer term time places for children aged 3 to 4 years.

Pre-school operates in line with the same term time dates as Leigh Central Primary making it easier for families to collect siblings from both school and pre-school.

We offer a variety of sessions that will suit each family’s needs - please see our Funding and Session Times section for full details.

Pre-school Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) which allows us to monitor and assess the children’s development through their play. We follow their interests and key life experiences to provide quality and exciting areas of learning for them to explore and develop their skills further. We recognise that each child is a unique individual that learns and develops in their own way, and the learning environment is developed to support this.

As we are a Foundation Unit the children play and interact with the children in the Reception Class. The Early Years Team work closely together so transitions are much easier and smoother when it is time for your child to start their Reception Class year.

Outdoor provision

We have a wonderful outdoor area where our children are free to explore and follow their interests whatever the weather. They are able to select resources from our choosing sheds to enhance their play further and allow their imaginations to run free.

Being outdoors supports confidence and allows opportunities for big scale play, problem-solving and creativity in the company of other children. Children can fill their lungs with lovely clean air and use all of their senses to appreciate the colours, different noises and textures in the environment around them.

Take a look at some of our Autumn / Winter activities below.

Water play can be therapeutic and can enhance motor and problem solving skills. It is also a great way to learn about capacity and volume.
